THE BUSINESS PSYCHOLOGIST · MIND LOGISTICS
Training that builds real capability —
not just compliance.
Psychologist-led workplace mental health and psychosocial risk training for leaders, HR, WHS and People & Culture teams. Practical enough to use in the conversation on Monday morning — grounded enough to stand up when the stakes are higher.
R U OK?Day · MENTAL HEALTH WEEK · SAFE WORK MONTH
If your managers ask “Are you OK?”, they need to be ready for the answer.
Many workplaces are planning awareness activity for September and October. The opportunity is to go one step further: give leaders the confidence to respond when someone actually says they are not OK.
Managing Mental Health Disclosures at Work is a practical, psychologist-led session covering what to say, what not to say, how to stay within role boundaries, when to escalate, and how to respond without turning a manager into the therapist.
THE CAPABILITY GAP
Your organisation may have policies.
Your people still need practice.
A policy can tell leaders what the organisation expects. It cannot give them the words to use in a difficult human moment.
The hardest workplace conversations rarely arrive neatly. A disclosure happens in a corridor. A performance conversation takes an unexpected turn. A manager is worried about someone but does not know whether — or how — to act.
This training closes the gap between knowing the framework and being able to operate confidently inside it.
Participants leave with:
-
specific language they can use
-
clear role and boundary understanding
-
practical decision frameworks
-
greater confidence in difficult conversations
-
a stronger connection between people capability and psychosocial risk

Managing Mental Health Disclosures at Work
PROGRAM 1
What to say. What not to say. Where the manager’s role begins — and ends.
When someone discloses a mental health concern, managers often do one of three things: freeze, rush to fix it, or handball the conversation too quickly. This session gives leaders a practical pathway for responding well in the moment and following through appropriately afterwards.
What it covers
-
how to respond when someone says they are struggling
-
language that supports without diagnosing
-
boundaries, confidentiality and documentation
-
when to seek HR/WHS or clinical support
-
common mistakes that unintentionally increase distress

PROGRAM 2
Performance Management as Psychosocial Risk
Leadership Capability
Poorly managed performance processes can create or amplify psychosocial risk — and avoiding difficult conversations often shifts the risk rather than removing it.
Most organisations have performance management processes. Very few have leaders who understand what happens neurologically when those conversations go wrong — or why avoiding them creates a risk that sits on nobody's register. Using the SCARF model (Status, Certainty, Autonomy, Relatedness, Fairness), participants learn why performance conversations trigger threat responses, how deferred or avoidant management creates cumulative psychosocial harm, and how to build a performance culture that is both accountable and psychologically safe. Grounded in the Just Culture framework and WHS positive duty obligations.

Particularly effective as a follow-on from a Psychosocial Risk & Protection Review — when the risk has been identified, this program builds the capability to address it.
PROGRAM 3
Confident Conversations
A 90-minute session for leaders who know the conversation needs to happen — and keep finding reasons not to have it.
Most leaders don't avoid difficult conversations because they don't care. They avoid them because the last one went badly, or because they don't know how to have it without triggering a defensive response, a disclosure, or a grievance. Confident Conversations gives leaders a practical framework using the SCARF model — understanding why these conversations feel threatening, how to reduce the threat response before it derails the conversation, and how to approach difficult topics with genuine curiosity rather than defensiveness or avoidance.
Fast. Practical. High impact. Designed to be delivered in a single session without requiring a full day out of the business.

CUSTOMISATION
Not sure which program fits?
Most organisations need something tailored.
Every program can be customised to your sector, team size, specific risk profile, and existing training context. Multi-program packages are available for organisations wanting to build capability across several areas — with bundled pricing and a coordinated delivery plan.
If you're working through a psychosocial risk management process, training can be integrated with a Workplace Pressure Scan or Psychosocial Risk & Protection Review to ensure your team's capability matches your identified risk controls.

ABOUT YOUR FACILITATOR
A registered psychologist who has worked on all sides of this.
Tenneile Manenti is a registered psychologist with more than 20 years of experience across clinical, forensic, and organisational psychology, including senior leadership roles in emergency services.
She has designed and delivered psychosocial risk training for national security clients, built integrated mental health strategies for complex volunteer-based workforces, led large-scale leadership and safety culture programs across multiple countries, and treated the clinical consequences of systems that got this wrong.
That combination — administrator, clinician, facilitator — is what makes this training different. She is not teaching theory. She is teaching from the rooms she has actually sat in.
